PRINCE TECH BOOTCAMP (EMPOWERING YOUTH THROUGH TECHNOLOGY)
A. Context Nigeria faces one of the highest youth unemployment rates in Sub-Saharan Africa. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the unemployment rate among Nigerian youth (ages 15–34) has soared above 42%, with thousands of university and polytechnic graduates struggling to find meaningful work each year. Many are left idle, frustrated, and disillusioned, despite having formal education.
The reality is stark: Degrees alone no longer guarantee jobs in today’s economy. What young people need are skills; marketable, tech-driven, innovation-oriented skills that can create value. “No Nation can become an economic power without being a leader in science and technology. If we truly desire a prosperous and independent Nigeria, we must place tools of innovation in the hands of our youth. Science and technology are not luxuries for us, they are necessities.” – Prince Nwankwo
In response to this national challenge, the Prince Tech Bootcamp has stepped in to bridge the skill-employability gap, offering Nigerian undergraduates and fresh graduates hands-on, practical training that empowers them to take their destiny into their own hands. Through structured modules in digital skills, electronics, hardware-software integration, and entrepreneurship, we are raising a generation of problem solvers, tech creators, and digital entrepreneurs.
B. Objectives:
- To bridge the digital divide for underserved communities in Nigeria.
- To train participants in practical ICT and digital entrepreneurship skills.
- To foster innovation in electronics and software development.
- To create a pipeline of tech-savvy, job-ready youth and entrepreneurs.
- To empower women and girls with digital tools to change their futures.

- Digital Literacy & Internet Fundamentals
- Computer basics, internet navigation, online safety
- Digital communication and productivity tools (email, Google Workspace, MS Office)
- Introduction to Electronics & Circuit Design
- Identification of electronic components
- Building simple circuits and real-life applications (power supply circuit, alarm circuits, digital clock, street lights, water level monitor, digital information display, smoke detector and fire alarm, movement detector, etc)

- Smart tech applications (IoT, smart homes, etc.)

- Web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Python for beginners and automation

D. The Ripple Effect: Impact in Action
Some of the people who passed through the Prince Tech Bootcamp have gone on to establish their own training and empowerment centres across various states in Nigeria. These empowered change-makers are now:

- Driving local innovations in electronics, coding, and automation.
- Launching startups and digital service businesses.
- Creating jobs within their communities.

E. Primary Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Addressed by the Project
1. SDG 4 – Quality Education
By providing practical, hands-on training in ICT, electronics, and entrepreneurship, the bootcamp ensures inclusive and equitable quality education and promotes lifelong learning opportunities for all.
2. SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth
The programme empowers youth with market-relevant tech and digital skills, thereby promoting productive employment, self-reliance, and entrepreneurship, especially in underserved communities.
3. SDG 5 – Gender Equality
Through intentional inclusion of women and girls in the training programs, the bootcamp promotes gender equality and empowers women with digital tools for economic transformation.
4. SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
By fostering innovation, electronics prototyping, and smart technologies, the program supports sustainable industrialization and encourages innovation.
5. SDG 1 – No Poverty
By equipping young people with skills that lead to income-generating activities, the bootcamp contributes to poverty reduction through economic empowerment.
F. Long-Term Vision To scale the bootcamp into Prince Tech Innovation Hub, a regional centre for youth development, startup incubation, and community tech solutions.
