THE PROJECT: THE MULTIPURPOSE SOLAR-POWERED MOVEABLE BOOTH (KIOSK)
Tasks like growing a business, healthy lifestyles, and day-to-day societal activities become painstaking when access to electricity is a concern. The multipurpose solar-powered moveable booth is an approach by “Prince Technology and Community Development Foundation” to provide an off-grid (standalone) solar energy solution to artisans and small business owners in Nigeria (Africa). It is a mini-grid solar energy station that converts solar energy to electrical energy to serve artisans and small business owners in Nigeria who require a steady and affordable energy supply to run their businesses.
The multipurpose solar-powered moveable booth consists of a portable house built with Aluminum profiles and aluminum composite panel sheets that can be easily moved from one place to another, thus the name “moveable”. The moveable booth comes in different sizes; ranging from 3 feet by 6 feet room space to the room-size Aluminum house of 10 feet by 10 feet; depending on the choice of the customer and the nature of the business it will be deployed to.
One of the important features of the invention (multipurpose solar-powered moveable booth) is that all the electronic/electrical appliances used in the booth like Electric Fan, Television, Small Refrigerator, Decoder, Bulbs, etc are controlled by voice or an application (App) running on a mobile phone. So with this invention, a physically challenged person can easily (remotely) control all the appliances in the booth (kiosk) from the comfort of his/her wheelchair by issuing the corresponding voice command or by using an application (App) running on a mobile phone.
SUMMARY OF OPERATION:
The operation of energy conversion and storage for the multipurpose solar-powered moveable booth: It consists of a solar rooftop (solar panels mounted on top of the roof) that converts the energy from the Sun into electrical energy. The charge controller is used to control the rate of charging/discharging of the batteries. The electrical energy produced by the solar panels is used to charge the deep-cycle batteries incorporated with the system. The system inverter fabricated with electronic components available in our local markets is used to convert the 24V Direct Current (DC) of the batteries to 220V- 240V Alternating Current (AC) suitable for providing the energy requirements of the booth. The multipurpose solar-powered movable kiosk provides artisans, and small and medium-scale businesses in Nigeria with a steady, reliable, affordable, cleaner, and environmentally friendly power supply to power their businesses and maximize profit; while protecting our immediate environment.
